The Spire (Ridge) area is underlain by marine sedimentary and volcanic rock of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. The stratigraphy is intruded by Late Triassic granodiorite, Early Jurassic monzonitediorite to gabbro (Texas Creek Plutonic Suite) and Triassic to Jurassic syentite to monzonite (Copper Moutain Plutonic Suite).

A few hundred metres north of Saddlehorn Mountain ridge an outcropping of syenite hosts from 3 to 5 per cent pyrite-chalcopyrite. A 1 metre chip sample (245894) taken by Bellex Mining 1988 of this material assayed greater than 1 per cent copper and 0.48 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 18114).

Work by Bellex Mining in the area in 1989 defined the area as the Spire zone characterized by a gossan consisting strongly sericitized, pyritized and silicified andesite, but sampling thus far has produced only background levels in base and precious metals. Sampling in 1988 (sample 24589) may be a few hundred metres west of the Spire.

Bellex worked the JW property in 1990 and determined that the Spire Zone appeared to be the southern limit of the porphyry system on their Jack Wilson (JW) property.

See Devils Club (104G 060) for details of the Jack Wilson (JW claims) property.
